Green School
At Dunboyne JPS, we are proud to be part of the Green Schools programme. We encourage children to care for their environment and develop positive habits that support sustainability and responsibility.
What we do
Our Green School Work
Children take part in activities that promote environmental awareness, including recycling, reducing waste and saving energy.
We work together as a school community to develop good habits that help protect our environment for the future.
Themes
Focus Areas
Our work includes themes such as:
• Litter and Waste
• Energy
• Water
• Travel
• Biodiversity
These themes help children understand how small actions can make a big difference.
Picker Pals Initiative
As part of our Green School work, we take part in the Picker Pals programme, which encourages children to care for their local environment.
Children take turns bringing home a Picker Pals kit, where they can safely collect litter in their local area with their families.
This initiative helps children develop a sense of responsibility, pride in their community and an understanding of how small actions can make a big difference.
By working together, we are helping to keep our school and community clean, safe and environmentally friendly.
Student Involvement
Student Participation
Children are actively involved in Green School activities. They help to monitor progress, share ideas and encourage others to take part.
This helps to build responsibility, teamwork and leadership skills.
Working Together
We value the support of parents and the wider community in promoting environmentally friendly habits at home and at school.
Together, we can make a positive difference.
